Holtz Children’s Hospital at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the southeast United States, where UHealth - University of Miami Health System physicians treat children from throughout Florida and the Caribbean. Holtz Children’s is known worldwide for its care of critically ill newborns in its neonatal intensive care unit, which is one of the largest in the United States and boasts some of the best medical outcomes. In collaboration with the Miami Transplant Institute, Holtz Children’s is one of only three centers in the country that specializes in pediatric multi-organ transplants. It is home to one of only three state-accredited comprehensive children’s kidney failure centers and one of the largest pediatric kidney transplant programs in the world. The Children’s Heart Center at Holtz Children’s is the only comprehensive children’s heart program in South Florida. In partnership with the University of Miami, Holtz Children’s also trains the most pediatric physicians of any medical center in the southeastern United States.

Position Summary:

  • Childcare Worker work with infants and children residing in the group care shelter home.
  • Employees in this class are responsible for the supervision and physical care of children and infants.

    Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Serves as care manager for assigned children with focus on their individual needs.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of care plan directives.
  • Provides feeding for child which may include gastronomy feeding.
  • Implements lifestyle management program including; participation in house work chores; preparation of meals for the children; providing medications under direction; recreation; clothing.
  • Provides basic care for medically involved children.
  • Keeps records as directed and reviews reports and memoranda in a timely fashion.
  • Follows unit policies and procedures.
  • Reports changes in condition of medically involved children as directed/indicated.
  • Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
  • Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • Assisted Daily Living experience preferred. 
  • Experience working with children required. 

    Education:
    High School diploma is required.

    License Certification:
    Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
