Address: This role can be based at any of three correctional facilities in Miami Dade County. Your location assigned is based on operational needs. 

The facilities are: 

  • Turner Guilford Knight:  70000 NW 41st Street  Miami, Florida 33166
  • Pre-Trial Detention Center: 1321 NW 13th Street Miami, Florida 33125
  • Metro West: 13850 NW 41st Street  Doral, Florida 33178

Shift Details: Full-Time 8 Hour Variable Schedule, Rotating Weekends

Position Summary
  • Clinical Psychologist 1 is responsible for performing psychological assessment and evaluation of adult and/or child clients, using psych diagnostic tests and other professional techniques not requiring medical licensure.
  • Related professional responsibilities include provision of individual psychotherapy, and participation in training of psychology interns and other disciplines.
  • Emphasis of the work is on assessment and evaluation of personality characteristics and dynamics in contributing to the understanding of client problems and development of treatment plans.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Complies with all requirements to maintain a Florida Psychologist License.
  • Supervises those psychologists involved in training of fellows, interns and practicum students on teaching and training issues. Insures compliance to CARF, JCAHO, American Psychological Association Standards, in addition to JMH, Mental Health and Psychology policies and procedures. Chairs the Internship Training Committee.
  • Interviews all Fellow, Intern and Practicum Student applicants. Interviews applicants for new positions.
  • Conducts individual and group conferences with fellows, interns and practicum students to identify individual program needs.
  • Coordinates and is administratively responsible for the evaluation of fellows, interns and practicum students.
  • Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff to design and implement the appropriate age specific treatment plans. 
  • Records assessment, testing and treatment interventions according to departmental guidelines.
  • Provides assessment, testing and therapeutic intervention to patients and/or families in age appropriate fashion.
  • Collaborates with community agencies regarding patients. Responsible for administering psychology training programs.
  • Supports and maintains existing standards of the Public Health Trust, the department and the profession.
  • Participates in orientation and training of psychology staff, supervises psychology fellows, interns and practicum students.
  • Participates in and sometimes chairs committees as assigned. 
  • Maintains current knowledge of psychology practice.
  • Provides psychological coverage as assigned.
  • Participates in hospital, departmental and unit meetings.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary team conferences on units assigned.
  • Insures that the interdisciplinary team maintains a treatment plan age appropriate to patient.
  • Complies with all the appropriate regulatory agency standards for the units assigned as well as with the policies and procedures of the Hospital, Division of Mental Health, Psychology and units on which they are assigned.
  • Maintains an ongoing self development program. Attends all Psychology administrative meetings.
  •  Attends Psychology Grand Rounds. Develops common leads or co-leads age specific groups as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
Education

Doctorate's degree in related field is required

Experience

Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.

License/Certification

Valid Florida license in specialty is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
