Shift Details: Variable days/nights and weekends, 12 hour shifts

Why Corrections:

Miami-Dade Corrections Health Services (CHS) operates under Jackson Health System (JHS) and serves approximately 5,000 patients daily. Patient care is delivered by nearly 400 healthcare employees representing a diverse multidisciplinary team of nurses & nurse support staff, physicians, psychiatrists, social workers and other professionals. CHS supports Miami Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation at 3 facilities in Miami-Dade County and leverages the resources of a large public safety net health system in the areas of education, quality, risk management & compliance.

Position Summary: 

The APRN/PA  provide a wide range of primary, acute and specialty healthcare services, both autonomously and in partnership with other healthcare professionals, in accordance with State and Federal regulations. These services include managing patient's overall care; prescribing medications and treatments; ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, EKGs and lab work; diagnosing and treating chronic and acute conditions, including injuries, infections, diabetes and high blood pressure; performing invasive procedures; counseling; and educating patients on positive health-promoting lifestyle choices and disease, injury and illness prevention.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • The APRN/PA  provide a wide range of primary, acute and specialty healthcare services, both autonomously and in partnership with other healthcare professionals, in accordance with State and Federal regulations.

Experience:
Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.  Prior APRN/PA experience and experience in correctional health setting preferred.

Education:
Master's degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant is required.

License Certification:
Valid Florida Advanced Practice RN license required. Valid APRN/PA license and  Board certification in specialty area required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment. Must meet and maintain valid and current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by regulatory and/or nursing standard of practice for the specialty.
