Address: This role can be based at any of three correctional facilities in Miami Dade County. Your location assigned is based on operational needs.

The facilities are:

Turner Guilford Knight: 70000 NW 41st Street Miami, Florida 33166

Pre-Trial Detention Center: 1321 NW 13th Street Miami, Florida 33125

Metro West: 13850 NW 41st Street Doral, Florida 33178

Shift Details: Full-Time, 8 Hour Variable Schedule, Rotating Weekends

Why Corrections:

Miami-Dade Corrections Health Services (CHS) operates under Jackson Health System (JHS) and serves approximately 5,000 patients daily. Patient care is delivered by nearly 400 healthcare employees representing a diverse multidisciplinary team of nurses & nurse support staff, physicians, psychiatrists, social workers and other professionals. CHS supports Miami Dade Corrections & Rehabilitation at 3 facilities in Miami-Dade County and leverages the resources of a large public safety net health system in the areas of education, quality, risk management & compliance.

Position Summary:

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW or Licensed Mental health Counselor, LMHC is professional and supervisory clinical social casework in medical, nursing and convalescent facilities of JHS.
  • Employees in this class provide professional supervision over subordinate social workers engaged in direct inpatient or outpatient clinical casework services.
  • Related responsibilities include providing advanced professional casework service in complex cases requiring a high degree of skill and mature judgment in evaluating social diagnostic information and arriving at appropriate support measures.
  • Some positions in the class participate in the clinical casework training of graduate students in an accredited internship program.
  • Incumbents apply considerable knowledge of disease entities and medical or psychiatric terminology associated with a clinical setting in addition to the philosophy, principles and practices of professional social work.
  • Work of subordinate social workers is reviewed for adherence to accepted quality standards of social casework.
  • May require to conduct social work duties, identify and refer violent crime victims and their families to Thriving Mind South Florida for services in the VOCA Trauma Recovery Network.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff to design and implement appropriate treatment plans, including discharge plans.
  • Provides professional counseling and therapeutic intervention to patients and/or families utilizing treatment modalities appropriate to work with adults and their families.
  • Collaborates with community agencies which provide services for adults and their families.
  • Leads or co-leads patients groups as needed. Submits statistical reports as required.
  • Participates in orientation and training of social work and interdisciplinary staff.
  • Participates on research projects as required for program planning and evaluation.
  • Maintains current knowledge of social work practice including specific knowledge of the bio-psychosocial issues of adults.
  • Participates in Committees as assigned.
  • Supervises students. Provides coverage as assigned.
  • Participates in hospital, departmental and unit meetings.
  • Provide Social Work Services to patients and/or families.
  • Employees that work for the VOCA Trauma Recovery Network may conduct social work duties to identify and refer violent crime victims and their families to Thriving Mind South Florida (contracting as South Florida Behavioral Health Network, Inc.).
  • The duties may include but not limited to: provides brief crisis intervention to victims and/or family utilizing appropriate, evidence-based approaches, and assess eligibility for services though Thriving Mind’s VOCA-funded Trauma Recovery Network (TRN).
  • Work collaboratively with the TRN and interdisciplinary staff to implement appropriate discharge plans and facilitate warm-handoff referrals to Thriving Mind staff to link to outpatient resources.
  • Participates in project workgroups and meetings as assigned by supervisor and/or TRN Program Director, and performs other VOCA allowable TRN-related duties as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Experience:
Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.

Education:
Master's Degree in Social Work is required.

License Certification:
Valid Florida Licensure from the Association of Social Work Boards is required. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
