Nursing Assistant 2
Nursing Assistant 2
Unit: Perdue Medical Center
Status: Full time
Shift: Evenings/Weekends
This is basic nursing care work of more than average difficulty and responsibility in the treatment and care of the physically ill in county hospitals. Employees in this classification perform more difficult nursing assistant assignments not requiring the knowledge and skill of licensed practical or professional nurses. Emphasis of the work is on furnishing nursing care to patients and assistance to the nursing and medical staffs in completing physical examinations and treatments. The work requires application of more complex procedures and a higher degree of responsibility than is required of the Nursing Assistant 1 classification. Incumbents apply judgment in making observations of patient conditions that have a specific bearing on course of medical or surgical treatment. Specific procedures will vary depending on whether incumbents are assigned to work with medical, surgical, obstetrical, pediatric or other patients. Duties are performed in accordance with established nursing service practices and procedures, regulations and policies, and special instructions from professional or medical superiors. Direct contact with patients is subject to supervision of professional superiors who assist with nursing care problems and review work in progress.
