Patient Care Associate provides patient focused, age-specific, information and clinical based support. Understands sources and flow of patients information, interprets and documents qualitative and/or quantitative data, and utilizes appropriate health information equipment/systems. Demonstrates basic knowledge and skills necessary to read, analyze and communicate clinical data to the members of the health care team. Documents actions/events/behaviors/data element using protocol as well as judgment. Demonstrates the skills and knowledge necessary to provide basic ambulatory care needs. Responsible for following applicable unit, division, hospital standards in collecting and documenting actions, events, behavior and other objective data. Contributes toward identifying clinical pathway variances. Directs supportive tasks related to logistics and transportation. Interacts with patients, families and other members of the collaborative healthcare team. Maintains a clean, safe, aesthetically pleasing work environment. Participates in clinical research trials and projects. Participates in the orientation process of new employees.
Selection Criteria:
High School or GED required.
Ability to speak, read and write English and basic math skills required.
Completion of specialty training such as Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant/approved certification program preferred.
Coursework in anatomy, physiology medical technology and/or transcription preferred.
Basic computer literacy and office technology/functions preferred.
At least one year's experience in a health care setting performing information based patient care and/or patient care supportive tasks such as vital signs, phlebotomy, as well as basic clinic skills preferred.
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification with at least 6 months validity required.
