Support Associate 2
Department: Holtz Pediatric Transplant Unit
Status: Full Time
Shift: Nights rotating (12 hour shifts)
Demonstrates the skills and knowledge necessary to provide basic, supportive clinical and diagnostic functions and observation/assessment of simple to moderately complex patient care needs appropriate to the age of their patients. Responsible for following applicable unit, division, hospital standards in collecting and documenting actions, events, behaviors and other objective data. Assists patients with activities of daily living. Contributes toward identifying clinical pathway variances. Coordinates and provides some supportive tasks related to logistics and transportation. Interacts with patients, families and other members of the collaborative healthcare team. Maintains a clean, safe, aesthetically pleasing work environment. Participates in clinical research trials and projects. Acts as a preceptor.
Selection Criteria:
- High school graduate, GED or equivalent on-the-job experience required.
- Graduation from an approved training program of nutrition assistant, medical assistant, EKG or the equivalent documented on-the-job training required. Completion of specialty training/approved certification program preferred.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification with at least 6 months validity required.
- One year's experience in a health care setting performing patient care supportive tasks required.
- Experience in basic patient care intervention and knowledge of basic clinical skills such as vital signs, life support, and range of motions required.
- Bilingual preferred
