Hours: 7AM-7PM - 12 shifts monthly

Position Summary:

We’re experienced in diagnosing and treating a variety of everyday illnesses—including fever, sore throat, respiratory infections, and the flu—and minor injuries, such as sprains and broken bones. If you need any tests or X-rays, we can take care of them on site during your visit.

The JMG Associate Medical Director is responsible for the planning, diagnostic development, management and evaluation of medical/services at the clinic/center of responsibility. Provides and maintains JHS Standards towards continuous, intensive direct medical diagnosis, consultation, and health care services to JHS outpatients and/or inpatients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists Medical Director in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating all medical and ancillary services at the clinic/center of responsibility. Ensures that all patients presenting themselves for primary health care services are provided with the appropriate diagnostic, treatment services and proper disposition of their particular needs.
  • Performs medical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment to System patients. Provides medical consultative services to other medical personnel in the clinic/center of responsibility, specifically related to overall patient management. Assists, implements and achieves the medical goals and objectives for the clinics/center of responsibility.
  • Ensures that all medical services meet or exceed standards required by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals and State of Florida Licensure requirements. Directs activities in the area(s) assigned. Monitors and evaluates present and future needs for medical/diagnostic services in the clinic/center of responsibility.
  • Participates in the interview process and recommends candidates to become employees in the area(s) assigned. Participates in the performance evaluation process and serves as the rater for physicians supervised. Disciplines, recommends adverse actions to be taken against physicians they supervise, as may be necessary.
  • Promotes communication via scheduled meetings with administrative staff and medical care providers. Provides direct patient care on a daily basis and provides all necessary medical record documentation including Medicare/Medicaid and third party payer requirements. Performs and monitors CPT and ICD9 coding. Works as scheduled and may rotate through System. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate. Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Attendance at Medical Staff meetings and participation with/on JMH committees/sub-committees.
  • Participates in utilization review, quality assessment and improvement programs to improve patient care. Provides medical consultative services to other medical personnel, specifically related to overall patient management. Maintains current standards of acceptable medical practice. Participates in educational programs specific to patient care. Involves patients (and family, when necessary) in the decision making process about treatment. Meets productivity standards.
  • Attends meetings and conferences, as directed. Participates in mandatory educational programs, in-service/training courses to maintain job competency skills. Maintains effective communication and working relationships with JHS medical personnel in the community. Collaborates with Radiology, Pathology, Surgery, Medical Oncology, and Nursing in the clinical management of patients.
  • Performs all credentialed medical procedures according to standards, including time-out protocols. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the continuous Quality Improvement Plan to identify improvement opportunities. Adheres to unit specific safety and infection control standards.
  • Adheres to the Standards of Excellence at all times. Respects the rights, privacy and property of others at all times including the confidentiality of information, according to Administrative policies and all applicable laws and regulations. Assumes the duties of the Medical Director in his/her absence. Role models behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned

Experience:
Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.

Education:
Doctorate degree in Medicine is required.

License Certification:
Valid Florida Medical License, DEA and board certification (FM or EM) are required. Other specialty certifications related to specialty are a plus. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.

Skill in monitoring/assessing the performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs. Ability to establish goals and objectives. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
