The Patient Care Technician is a member of the health care team who performs functions which support the delivery of a single standard of care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, for a group of patients relating to their hygiene, safety, nutrition, elimination and comfort needs. Performs indirect care tasks and unit related activities. The Patient Care Technician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of their patients; demonstrate knowledge of growth and development; assess data reflective of the patient�s status; and identify each patient�s requirements relative to age specific needs. The Patient Care Technician performs specific job criteria/performance standards according to prevailing applicable unit, division, hospital and professional standards.
