This is elementary patient attending work in the care and observation of patients. Employees in this classification provide basic hygienic, dietary and minimal nursing care duties not requiring the knowledge and skill of licensed nursing staff. Emphasis of the work is on performing personal service to patients, assisting nursing, medical and other healthcare staff and observing patient, reporting patient status and providing comfort and safety measures. Duties are performed under the direction and close supervision of nursing or medical superiors who assist with problems and review work in progress.
Completion of eighth grade education required. Read, write and speak English. Basic math skills required. High School diploma or equivalency preferred. Experience with basic patient care in a hospital setting preferred. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification with at least 6 months validity required.
