Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists providing a high level of assistance in compounding (sterile and non-sterile preparations), distribution and dispensing of medication and other pharmaceutical related supplies.
Selection Criteria:
- High school graduate required. Registration by the Florida Board of Pharmacy by January 1st, 2011 required (mechanism by which registration is obtained is between the applicant and the Florida Board of Pharmacy; JHS Pharmacy Leadership will not certify work experience for applicants).
- Must be CPHT certified by March 31, 2010 and maintain active certification as a condition of continued employment.
- Students enrolled in a College of Pharmacy may work as a Pharmacy Technician under an active Pharmacy Intern license.
- For inpatient positions, experience in sterile products and chemotherapy preparation and automated dispensing machines is highly desirable.
- For ambulatory positions, retail pharmacy experience, third party billing, and automation experience is highly desirable.
- Strong patient care orientation, self motivation and good interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively as a team player are required.
- Ability to demonstrate literacy in using computerized information systems.
