Unit: Emergency Care Center
Status: Full Time with Benefits
Shift: Evenings (11 AM to 11:30 PM)
The Senior Emergency Room Technician is a licensed member of the health care team, who performs advanced technical functions for patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse; supports a single standard of care via therapeutic use of self, the environment, instrumentation and other health care team members. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of their patients; demonstrate knowledge of growth and development; assess data reflective of the patient's status and identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs. Performs specific job criteria/performance standards according to prevailing applicable unit, division, hospital and professional standards.
Selection Criteria:
- High school / GED required. Basic math skills required.
- Completion of specialty training such as Medical Assistant, Paramedic/EMT or medical corpsmen approved certification program required. Possession of current related license required.
- Coursework in anatomy, physiology, medical technology and/or transcription preferred.
- At least one year experience in a health care setting performing information-based patient care and/or patient care supportive tasks such as vital signs, phlebotomy, as well as clinical skills preferred.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification with at least 6 months validity required.
- Ability to demonstrate literacy in using computerized information systems.
