Position Summary: 

  • The IT Network Infrastructure Architect is responsible to design and implement complex network systems, offer highly reliable and redundant infrastructure services, and perform leadership responsibilities to a team of network engineers.
  • This position will forecast and address any issues related to network design and performance.
  • Oversee the software and hardware installations, specification, testing and service transition as it relates to the infrastructure.
  • The architect needs to guide in execution of Incident, Change, Release, Problem, Performance, and Availability Management.
  • Responsibilities include the design, implementation, and performance of lifecycle management for the following: IT Systems, Storage, and Backup; Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and Wireless Networks; Telecommunications systems; Data Center Management; System/Network Management and Surveillance Tools; and Tier 3 support of day-to-day operational issues and chronic problems.
  • Ensuring maintenance of current network, performing tests, installation and maintenance and making upgrades or adjustments as needed.
  • Perform leadership responsibilities for direct-reports, including goal setting and measurement, performance evaluation, coaching, and disciplinary action in accordance with JHS and IT policies.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Manages the installation and support of network communications, including LAN/WAN/Wireless systems Designs, configurations, and/or upgrades while serving as a technical mentor to other engineers and senior engineers.
  • Serve as a 24/7 management escalation point for the CSC, executive leadership, and other IT staff. Performs leadership responsibilities for direct-reports, including goal setting and measurement, performance evaluation, coaching, and disciplinary action in accordance with JHS and IT policies.
  • Works closely with IT senior leadership, provides oversight for carrying out the architecture, design, and lifecycle management of the systems and networks which provide the critical IT infrastructure serving Jackson Health System.
  • Develops configuration standards across network equipment in order to ensure integrity of the systems and service.
  • Maintains information technology inventory records of wide-area and local-area network hardware and software as well as coordination of repairs and quality control tests.
  • Works with the Director in the development of standards, procedures, and policies for the network engineering team.
  • Enforces all operational policies and procedures and ensure that best-practices are always followed and Incident and Service Request SLAs are met or exceeded.
  • Ensures the proper and timely maintenance of the network. Identifies, diagnoses, resolves network bugs and performance issues, conducts tests, installations, and upgrades or makes adjustments as needed.

  • Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience:

Generally requires 7 to 9 years of related experience. Management experience is Required. 

Technical/professional experience in networking infrastructure, particularly with LAN/WAN/Wireless and VLAN. Project management skills and experience is Preferred.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in related field is required. Master's degree in related field is preferred.

License Certification:

Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty. Preferred certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, MTA.
